There are many people who suffer from panic attacks, but do not know it. If you have ever been consumed with worry about something and no matter what you do the fear just continues to increase to the point where you feel like screaming then you most likely had a panic attack.
We live in a stressful world and couple that with the economic hardships being felt and it is no wonder there is a large number of people who are having these attacks. What you should do is create a journal where you write down what you were doing or thinking before the attack started, there is a belief that these attacks are triggered by something and each person has a unique trigger. If you had a few attacks there should be a common denominator on why you are feeling that way.
If you are not able to figure out the trigger of the attack you should think about changing your lifestyle to a more healthy one. The first thing you should do is stop drinking alcohol or other drugs that could increase your chances of having a panic attack. Another important technique to help stop panic attacks is to go for a walk and leave the cell phone at home during this walk, perhaps take the family pet. By going back out into nature for a few moments you can forget about your problems and just enjoy the moment.
The adage an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure is true however if you feel an attack coming on change your environment right away and remember to breath naturally. There are some people who become very tense and start to hyperventilate, as this hyperventilation takes place it makes the person feel like things are spiraling out of control.
You must accept the possibility that you could be suffering from panic attacks and not try to hide the condition as if it is a personal failing, there are many people suffering from these panic attacks and once you admit you have them then you can start applying some of these techniques to stop panic attacks. Remember this condition can be treated even the most extreme cases where medication is needed but the first step is realizing you have the condition.
